Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- ½ cup chopped onion
- 1 can (16 ounces) red beans
- 1 can (16 ounces) refried beans
- 1 quart canned tomatoes
- 1 clove garlic
- 3 tsp. chopped jalapenos
- ½ tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. pepper
- 1/8 tsp. cayenne
- 3 Tbl. chili powder
- 1 Tbl. molasses
Directions:
- Brown beef with onions. Pour off fat.
- Add remaining ingredients.
- Cover and simmer for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
- OR cook on low in slow cooker for 8 hours.
Dehydrate:
Spread on covered dehydrator trays and dehydrate for 5 1/2 hours at 145 degrees.
Yield: 6 servings (weight 1 serving = 4.0 ounces)
Rehydrate:
Cover with water just above level of food in pot, boil, stir, and serve. Add more water to desired consistency.
Freezer bag cooking:
- Place freezer bag in cozy.
- Boil water.
- Pour water in bag to cover food.
- Zip bag.
- Set 15 – 20 minutes.
- Open bag carefully.
- Stir.
- Serve.
Serving suggestion: Serve with cornbread croutons.
