STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup dehydrated strawberry slices
  • 1 cup trail cake

Directions:

  1. Pack strawberries in a small plastic bag.
  2. Enclose in larger plastic bag with trail cake.

Yield: 1 serving

At the campsite:

  1. Combine strawberries with ½ cup water in pot.
  2. Light stove and warm for 10 minutes over low flame. The mission is to warm and rehydrate the strawberries and create some tasty strawberry juices at the same time, not to boil the red out of them.
  3. Cover strawberries with cake.
  4. Push the cake down into the strawberry juices but don’t stir.
  5. Let rest 10 minutes. (while eating)

Freezer bag cooking:

  1. Add ½ cup hot water to strawberries.
  2. Let sit in cozy for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Cover strawberries with cake.
  4. Push the cake down into the strawberry juices but don’t stir.
  5. Let rest 10 minutes. (while eating)
