Thus the Name

“Separateboats.” Some would ask, “why the odd name?” Well, let’s discuss that for a minute. LaNae and I are best friends and for the most part we get along and communicate well. When we were riding bike tours, there was never any question that we would each have our OWN bike (i.e. no tandems for us!). We never really thought about it at the time, but as we got to know each other better over the years, there was no doubt we were both strong-willed and independent. Yes, we could probably make this trip (oh, by the way…it is a 1591 mile kayak trip from the source of the Wabash to the Gulf of Mexico…but more on that later) in a tandem boat without killing each other, but why risk it! So, whenever someone hears that we do some kayaking they always ask us, “do you have a tandem” and we both, in unison, emphatically state… “no way, SEPARATE BOATS!” Thus the name.
